Wife hired men for Rs 2.5L to kill NRI husband

GURDASPUR: Zeroing in on the killers of a US-based NRI, police arrested his wife and four others for their involvement in the conspiracy to eliminate him.

The NRI's wife allegedly promised to pay Rs 2.5 lakh as "supari" to the gang. Marital discord and his insurance money appear to be the motive for the crime, police said on Saturday.

Paramjit Singh, son of Surinder Singh, a resident of Kunde Lalowal village, had come to visit his family along with his wife Gurpreet Kaur and 6-year-old son Karan last month.

Gurpreet, who had gone to visit her parents at Bahadur village contacted Pawan Kumar of Jalandhar, with whom she used to chat online from the US. She sought his help to eliminate her husband.

According to the plan, Kumar along with his three accomplices killed Paramjit when the family visited a gurdwara while returning to his native village, Gurdaspur SSP Varinder Pal Singh said.
