A newly released video shows a 360-degree view of the smoking towers post the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attack from the vantage point of a NYPD helicopter.
Taken from a police helicopter hovering above the doomed towers, the video is part of a cache of information from the attack handed over to the National Institute of Standards and Technology under the US Freedom of Information Act.
Although the 16-minute clip doesn't show the collapse of the first tower, it does record the officers' reaction immediately afterwards.
Only police helicopters were allowed in the airspace near the skyscrapers, and the officers were the only ones shooting images from above.
